- Enhancing the ability of academic departments to provide resources and mentorship for students, in order to foster a vibrant humanities community.
- Boosting research in the humanities by providing faculty and students with cutting-edge tools, material resources, and valuable travel opportunities.
- Providing opportunities for faculty and students to learn and think together in workshops, symposia, and other spaces outside the classroom.
- Amplifying the impact of Brown faculty research by supporting the dissemination, publication, and presentation of scholarly work.
The humanities provide space and time for students to think deeply about the human experience at every point in history, expanding their understanding of how the world is organized, how art is created, how cultures are shared. At Brown, the humanities are a core part of our Open Curriculum, offering innumerable points of connection between centuries-old ways of knowing and contemporary topics like health, the environment, AI, and economic policy. Students hone their critical thinking skills, improve their writing, and learn how to make effective arguments in humanities courses.

As part of the family of funds for annual giving with the Brown Annual Fund, gifts made to the Humanities Fund and any other impact fund are included in Annual Fund totals and the Reunion Class Gift to the Annual Fund.
