New $26M federal grant will expand clinical and translational research across Rhode Island
With five years of renewed federal funding, a third phase of Advance RI-CTR will expand research innovation and collaboration to benefit people and patients in Rhode Island.
Through the generosity of The Starr Foundation, which is chaired by alumnus Jeffrey W. Greenberg ’73, Brown University and Brown University Health are partnering to advance treatment for age-associated diseases and extend healthy lifespan.
Through their planned gift, Lea Anne Hikokawa Ng ’82 and Joseph Ng are leaving a legacy and celebrating the work and mentorship of Professor Evelyn Hu-DeHart.
Professor Emeritus Barrett Hazeltine inspired generations of Brown students and embedded entrepreneurship into the Open Curriculum with his ENGN9/90 courses. This spring, alumni, faculty, and students came together to celebrate his 65+ year legacy at Brown.

Thirty Years of Community-Engaged Research, Royce Fellowship Inducts 2026 Cohort
A $12 million gift from a family foundation led by accomplished business leader Orlando Bravo ’92 will bolster research and teaching in the University’s Department of Economics and Watson School of International and Public Affairs.
Three recent grants are enhancing research and scholarship at Brown on age-related diseases, African poetry, and programs for well-being in young adults.
