The Brown Medical Parents Committee (MPC) is composed of parents committed to supporting medical education through their guidance in advancing The Warren Alpert Medical School’s priorities and by acting as well-informed ambassadors. These parents have a deep allegiance to Brown and a desire to be exceptional leaders through their volunteerism and philanthropy.

Members of the Medical Parents Committee:

  • Serve a one-year term that may be renewed each year, including beyond the member’s child’s graduation from Brown
  • Support the Brown Medical Annual Fund (BMAF) with a suggested gift of $5,000 per year, or one at a significant level
  • Attend key meetings throughout the year
  • Solicit fellow families and encourage them to join in supporting the BMAF
  • Participate in professional development opportunities for medical and PLME students by offering internships, job opportunities, and mentorship
  • Welcome new families through calls, emails, and notes
  • Host a parent or Brown medical community reception in their home region (optional)

Members receive:

  • Invitations to special events held throughout the year
  • Exclusive communications throughout the year
  • Access to University and medical school faculty and leadership during meetings and events
  • Committee members making the suggested gift of $5,000 per year to the BMAF are recognized as leadership donors and included in the Dean’s Circle (additional benefits apply)

Getting more involved through the Medical Parents Committee has brought us closer to our son in a way. We know the faculty and staff he is interacting with, the processes of the school, and the details of his journey. Committee members have a wonderful opportunity to be part of their child’s education, meet other parents, and become active participants in the Medical School community.

Serving on the Medical Parents Committee is a privilege. As parents it is exciting to be able to stay involved with our kids’ school and make it an even more wonderful experience for them.
