The Brown Medical Parents Committee (MPC) is composed of parents of Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) and medical students committed to supporting The Warren Alpert Medical School and by acting as well-informed ambassadors. Members seek to inspire support from other Brown parents by making philanthropic gifts, engaging in personal outreach, hosting and attending events, and welcoming new families into the community. These parents have a deep allegiance to Brown and a desire to be exceptional leaders through their volunteerism and philanthropy.

Members of the Medical Parents Committee:

  • Support the Brown Medical Annual Fund (BMAF), whether at the suggested level of $5,000 or another amount of personal significance
  • Attend key meetings throughout the year, in person and virtually, including one during Family Weekend
  • Connect with PLME and medical  families to highlight the BMAF's impact on the Medical School, invite their support, and foster their engagement with the PLME and/or Medical School by sharing news and events
  • Participate in professional development opportunities for medical and PLME students by offering internships, job opportunities, and mentorship
  • Welcome new families through calls, emails, and notes
  • Host a parent or Brown medical community reception in their home region (optional)

Members receive:

  • Invitations to special events held throughout the year
  • Exclusive communications throughout the year
  • Access to University and medical school faculty and leadership during meetings and events

Committee members making the suggested gift of $5,000 per year to the BMAF are recognized as leadership donors and included in the Dean’s Circle

Serving as chairs of the Medical Parents Committee allows us to stay connected to our child’s journey at Brown, while giving back to the community that is shaping their path as a physician. We’re committed to building community among families, welcoming new parents, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive in an environment defined by excellence, service, and collaboration. It’s a privilege to lead alongside other dedicated families and support Brown’s mission.
