Inspired by the spirit of the Open Curriculum, Alumni Study Abroad offers curated travel, academic rigor, expert-led discussions, and authentic local experiences. This new lifelong learning program combines the independence and immersion of residential living with the security, ease, and camaraderie of small-group travel.

Rather than rushing from city to city, you’ll spend several weeks in a single location where you can fully immerse yourself and go beyond the tourist highlights.

A special feature of this lifelong learning experience are elective enrichment tracks that provide opportunities for deeper engagement.  Take language lessons, cooking classes, or study art and architecture. Join one, two, or all three of these electives.

Two lectures provide a history of Renaissance art and contemporary Italy. You also have ample free time to explore independently and make discoveries on your own and at your own pace.

Study the Italian language over the course of nine lessons, learn the secrets of Italian cuisine during three hands-on cooking lessons, and admire more art and architecture of Tuscany during four excursions.

Note: Excursions require walking on cobblestones, unpaved paths, uneven surfaces, and boarding motorcoaches/boats.
