Campus buildings and outdoor spaces around the College Green, Front Green, and Simmons Quad will have controlled access during much of Commencement and Reunion Weekend and will require the appropriate access badge/badge or ticket to enter.
Entry Points
Attendees can access the College Green area during the weekend through one of the following entry points. (Access badge/band or tickets required.)
- Prospect and Waterman streets (closed Sunday from 9:15 a.m. until after the Procession)
- Prospect and George streets
- Thayer and Waterman streets
- Thayer and George streets
While you may use any of these entry points, certain intersections are recommended below to help with traffic flow for specific events.
Campus Dance (Friday)
- The College Green area will close May 22 at 7 p.m. and reopen at 9 p.m.
- Access badge or band required to access College Green area.
- Recommended entry points:
- Wayland Arch (Waterman Street)
- Soldier’s Arch (Thayer Street)
- George Street (near John Carter Brown Library)
Master’s Ceremony (Saturday)
- The College Green area will close May 23 at noon and reopen at 1:30 p.m.
- Access badge or band required to access College Green area.
- Guests and spectators may enter at either entry point on Prospect Street.
Procession and Commencement Ceremonies (Sunday)
- The College Green area will open at 7 a.m. for those with registered access badges or bands.
- Access badge or band required to access College Green area.
- Recent grads through 40th Reunion will assemble on Brown Street (between George and Power streets).
- 45th+ Reunion classes assembling in front of Rhode Island Hall.
- Guests who will be watching the livestream from the green may arrive at either entry point on Thayer Street. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 9 a.m. to allow time to have wristbands scanned and find seating before the Procession begins.
