A Tradition Unlike Any Other: Reunion Weekend

With centuries worth of history, Brown is not lacking in traditions. Reunion Weekend is no exception. Held annually every Memorial Day weekend, Brown Reunion is a three-day celebration that brings together generations of Brown alumni and their friends and family on College Hill.

Among its marquee events are:

  • Campus Dance — an outdoor ball held on several of Brown’s quads and greens with multiple musical performances. Friday evening.
  • Bruno’s Block Party — a family-friendly event with food trucks, a 21+ beer garden, tunes, and summertime activities. Saturday midday.
  • Unity Funk Nite — a massive, high-energy dance party driven by a playlist of funk, soul, R&B, and disco. Saturday evening.
  • Procession — a unique tradition where alumni line the streets of College Hill to cheer on graduating students as they pass through the Van Wickle Gates and into the alumni community. Sunday morning.

Brown’s practice of holding its Reunion and Commencement on the same weekend is a long-standing tradition dating back nearly a century. Since 1928, Brown has hosted its class reunions and Commencement celebration concurrently—merging the welcoming of its newest graduates with the return of alumni from across the decades.
